Privacy Policy

North Langley Basketball Association ("NLBA", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information this website (the "Site") collects, how we use it, and your rights. We handle personal information in a manner consistent with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Who we are

NLBA is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit recreational basketball association in Langley, British Columbia and the surrounding communities. For privacy questions, contact us at admin@northlangleybasketball.ca.

2. Information we collect

We aim to collect as little personal information as possible through this Site:

  • Contact form submissions. If you contact us through the Site, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide so we can respond.
  • Server and security logs. Our hosting provider may automatically record technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and operational purposes.
  • Essential cookie. When an authorized administrator signs in to manage Site content, we set a single secure, essential session cookie. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics by default. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and disclose it.

3. Children's privacy

This public Site is intended for parents, guardians, volunteers, and the wider community — not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Site. Player registration and any collection of a child's personal information are handled off-site through our registration provider (such as TeamSnap) and are subject to that provider's privacy policy. If you believe a child has provided us personal information through this Site, please contact us and we will delete it.

4. How we use information

We use the information we collect only to:

  • respond to your inquiries and communicate with you;
  • operate, maintain, and secure the Site; and
  • meet our legal and organizational obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except as needed to operate the Site (for example, with our hosting and email providers acting on our behalf) or as required by law.

5. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law, and then securely delete or anonymize it.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about how we handle it. To make a request, email admin@northlangleybasketball.ca. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.

7. Security

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted to the Site, and the "Effective date" above will be updated.
